Our School Elections

Our School Elections were held on Friday, 18th February. The parties competing were: Fianna Sports, The Sports Party, The Maroon Party, Fianna Talent, The Olympics Party, MM Party and Fianna Meg. Each candidate had to come up with activities for the rest of the students to do on Wednesday for the last hour. Michael Murphy of the MM Party advocated playing soccer for the hour. Anna Ryan of Fianna Talent wanted to hold a talent show. Mikie McGrath of  The Olympics Party wanted to organise a treasure hunt. Megan Kavanagh of Fianna Meg promised to hold a fun table quiz. Oran Ivors of the Maroon Party wanted to play soccer or watch a DVD depending on the weather. Gerard O'Dwyer of Fianna Sports wanted to hold a sports quiz. Maria McGrath of The Sports Party promised an hour of various sporting activities.
After the candidates spoke about their plans all the students voted using specially designed ballot sheets. The Sports Party secured 18 votes on the First Count which made them the winners.

Sports Afternoon
The Sports Afternoon was organised by the Sports Party. There were 3 activities, basketball, soccer and tag rugby. There was a supervisor at each sport. We had to divide 1st class to 6th class into 6 teams. There were 2 teams at each sport playing a match against each other. Everybody had a great time. We didn't have to wear any uniform. We also got a night off homework.
Maria McGrath (Sports Party Leader)
